An 8th grader from St. Louis, Xavier Jones, felt his middle school graduation was something so important to attend that he walked for two hours to be there.

“I remember something Mr. Seals told me. He said, ‘If I want it, I got to go get it,’” said Xavier. “So, I wanted to graduate, so I was going to go to my graduation.”

Word spread about his journey and determination, all the way to the President of Harris-Stowe State University, Dr. Latonia Collins Smith, who decided to give Jones a full ride scholarship.
