In a dramatic finish to the 2023 World baseball Classic Championship, Japan came out victorious after Japan’s pitcher struck out his own teammate to defeat team USA.
Usually, Shoehei Ohtani and Mike Trout play together for the Los Angeles Angels but this time, they were facing off to defend their respective country’s baseball bragging rights. Well, it was the bottom of the ninth, Team USA already at two outs, down by one run, when Trout was up to bat. He was struck out by Ohtani for Japan to win it all.
