Abby Fender, 39, went in to have surgery on a herniated disc only to wake up without her Texas southern accent, but rather, one she described as “Russian Minnie Mouse.”

Leaving doctors baffled, as there is no obvious brain injury that could have caused it, she was diagnosed with “Foreign Accent Syndrome” due to paralysis of her vocal cords

Fender, a professional singer no less, has been working with a speech therapist to correct it and has found a way to slip into her original accent, but only for a moment. The rest of the time, she has since transitioned from a Russian accent to Australian.
