Needing an organ transplant is already a dire situation enough, but what if the organ you’ll be receiving that day is stuck in traffic?

That’s what happened at a Philadelphia hospital when the vehicle transporting a liver needed that day was stuck in traffic due to the Philly Marathon.

The doctor performing the surgery, all scrubbed up, in his lab coat then took off on foot, ran half a mile alongside the marathon, retrieved the liver and got a ride from a friendly police officer to make it to the surgery on time.

That’s the kind of dedication you would hope to have out of the person saving your life!
