Content Warning: Suicide
Ray’Veontae Harris was out for his usual walk across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge that connects Iowa and Nebraska when he noticed someone who looked like they could use some help.
A woman was leaning pretty far over the railing and while other people seemed to walk right on by, Harris felt like he should check on her.
When he got to her, she was crying, so he asked about her condition and saved her from a horrible situation.
Harris is still pretty humble about it, saying he’s not necessarily a hero but a seemingly simple gesture helped save the woman’s life.
If you or anyone you know is struggling, you too can be a hero like Harris and reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, available 24/7, at 1-800-273-8255.
