Magic Johnson abruptly resigned last night as president of basketball operations for the Lakers last night and by abruptly, we mean he didn’t even tell the team owner beforehand.

He did it in front of a bunch of reporters before the final Lakers game of the season.

During the interview he mentioned his relationship with owner Jeanie Buss, and said it was positive though he did seem pretty awkward about it.

Also…if they’re that close and happy, why didn’t he tell her about the announcement before he did it.

Johnson said his reasoning for the resignation was that he basically preferred his simpler life as more of a “big brother” role with players.

Best of luck, bud!
