Forrest Gump said “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get” and in the case of the sequel to the hit film that never saw the light of day, that couldn’t be more true.

Yes, you read that right. There actually was a fully fleshed-out sequel to the movie Forrest Gump that would follow the original Forrest and his son Forrest through the 90’s.

Screenwriter Eric Roth explained things he would encounter in the film included major events like the O.J. Simpson car chase, a dance with Princess Diana and the Oklahoma City bombing.

One single event, though, made this film so it would forever just be on paper.

“Literally, I turned it in the day before 9/11,” said Roth.

Roth and his team then decided after that, all the events and everything in the film did not carry the same weight and meaning anymore and moved on.

The reason this film wasn’t made is pretty tragic but some movies are just meant to be just a one-time hit. If only the Fast and Furious team would have gotten that memo.
