Laird Hamilton is a surfing legend, so when he speaks about surfing, people tend to listen. But in this case, people may want to take what he said with a grain of salt, because there's no way that it can possibly be true.
While being interviewed by TMZ
recently about the subject of shark attacks, Laird appeared to pull some knowledge straight out of the movie Anchorman
when he claimed that, "The most common reason to be bitten is a woman with her period. Obviously if a woman has her period, there's a certain amount of blood in the water
." While yes, sharks are attracted to blood, it just seems very odd for Hamilton to single out women and menstruation.
The best part of the video? When Hamilton makes his claim, you can actually hear a woman in the background say, "What?!
