Ohio resident, Thelma Williams, tied herself up, put garments in her mouth as a gag and took incriminating photos and video for Facebook.
One of her worried friends saw the information on Facebook and called 911.
Her story of what happened was a man in a mask entered her home, tied her up, cut off her clothes and used her phone to take video.
So, officials began a full-blown search and investigation which costed the city thousands of dollars. As the investigation continued, the story began to unravel and everyone started to figure out Williams had made the entire thing up.
Now, not many people have real sympathy for this woman who is being prosecuted to the full extent of the law but her daughter does not agree.
"If my mom made this up, it’s not for attention," said Williams' daughter Lorin Karol. "It’s because she needs help, not because she needs to be behind bars.
